The Converse Global Sustainability team is responsible for shaping and leading the enterprise sustainability strategy in partnership with Nike and cross functional partners. As part of Move to Zero, we are focused on 11 specific 2025 targets centered on:
- Achieving foundational compliance at facilitates in our extended supply chain
- Reducing emissions in our facilities & vehicles, manufacturing & logistics operations and materials
- Reducing or diverting waste through improved design and supply chain efficiency
- Putting people first through health & safety, empowering women and improving working engagement at supplier facilities
- Improving water efficiency in textile dyeing and finishing
- Adopting clean chemistry alternatives for priority chemistries across our supply chain
This role will report to the Converse Global Sustainability Director and will work closely with many multi-functional teams, including Technology, Global Operations & Logistics, Global Sourcing & Manufacturing, Footwear, Apparel & Accessories Development, and Product Innovation.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FORWe are looking for a Data Analyst to join our Sustainability team within Global Operations. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of driving progress towards Converse's sustainability targets through data exploration, extraction, translation, aggregation, analytics and insights. You will bring deep technical expertise and a solid understanding of how data and data insights can enable thoughtful decision-making throughout the organization. You are unconventionally curious and enjoy finding relationships between disparate data sets, with the ability to collaborate multi-functionally and explain essential insights to business users. You are excited by the challenge of building something from the ground up, know how to ask good questions, and are continually learning and knowledge sharing.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ONAs Data Analyst, you will envision, design, and implement new data models that help the business leverage and operationalize sustainability analytical insights across Converse. You will support the identification of key sustainability criteria and apply methods to acquire, explore, cleanse, and fuse data from different sources. You will take initiative and deploy quantitative research, causal inference and predictive models to identify, explore, and solve problems related to data coverage and quality in order to understand and optimize drivers of sustainable growth and performance. Partnering with the Converse Analytics Technology team, you will help define data requirements and source data, either in terms of raw data or modeled data and logic to support insights, dashboard and report requirements.
- Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Business, Environmental Sciences, or related field with a quantitative emphasis.
- 4+ years professional experience with an emphasis on business reporting and analytics required
- Strong SQL skills; ability to query data in data warehouses and parse data in common formats such as JSON, Parquet, excel/csv so that it can be usable for insights and analysis. Experience using Python/Pandas for data preparation/cleansing and analysis ideal but not required.
- Strong data mining and problem-solving skills; Grit, tenacity and creativity to work through complex analytics issues and questions
- Automation approach; Seek opportunities to automate insights generation work and ability to partner with Technology teams to implement solutions where possible
- Experience and ease with data profiling, mapping, and interpretation with a good understanding of key topics in data science and applied analytics
- Experience in definition of new measures, and the translation of business goals into quantitative metrics and reporting
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage large analytics projects with multiple business stakeholders on firm deadlines
- Experience working in an agile setting, working with developers to release in an iterative fashion with a "progress over perfection" mindset.
- Bonus: materials and product specific knowledge in the Footwear/Apparel sector and understanding of Sustainability concepts
