We are a premier pediatric specialty, research, and academic teaching hospital with a medical and research partnership with Massachusetts General Hospital. It is the world's leading center for pediatric burn care and is the only American Burn Association (ABA) exclusively pediatric verified burn center in New England and New York. The Boston Shriners Hospital also provides comprehensive care for cleft lip, cleft palate and other craniofacial anomalies, with a multidisciplinary care team.

The medical care in addition to all cost associated with medical travel/transport and patient family housing have always been provided, regardless of the families' ability to pay or insurance status.

The Boston Shriners Hospital is part of the Shriners Hospitals for Children health system of twenty-two non-profit pediatric medical facilities located across North America. The Boston Shriners Hospital is one of four pediatric burn specialty hospitals in the Shriners Hospitals for Children health system.

Donor Development team raises funds and awareness to support and advance world-class pediatric burn care, reconstructive plastic surgery and cleft lip and palate care at the Shriners Hospitals for Children — Boston.

Event Planning and Management                                                                               40%

As the team lead, will plan and execute a successful annual Walk event to benefit the Boston Shriners Hospital. Will collaborate with Donor Development and Public Relations//Marketing/Communications team to create Walk marketing materials, collateral, solicitation plan, sponsorship outreach and all event logistics. Will solicit individual and corporations for Walk support through individual outreach and online web applications in collaboration with part-time Development Assistant and Director of Development.

 

Annual Fund                                                                                                               30%

Work collaboratively with the development team to create and manage a comprehensive fundraising plan and quarterly appeal schedule. Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to independently write appeal letters, run and clean up mailing list and set gift arrays.  Ability to maintain appeal schedule and provide necessary reporting on progress. Works directly with graphic designer, print and mail fulfillment vendors.

 

Leadership Giving                                                                                                      20%

Nurtures donor relationships through regular contact, communication and recognition and builds a prospect pool of leadership level donors with the ability to make gifts of $1,000 or more, with goal to advance existing donor relationships and increase giving over time. Manage a prospect pool of 50-75 donors. Must have high comfort level and maturity with ability to communicate with donors from all walks of life by phone, email and face-to-face.

 

Administrative                                                                                                          10%

Track progress and results using prospect management guidelines and the Blackbaud CRM fundraising database. Enter offline gifts into Classy peer-to-peer event management platform and run necessary reports. Prepare and clean up mailing lists for solicitations. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Development. Partner and assist with Home office Donor Relations team as necessary.

 

Required/Preferred Skills

•  Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

•  Strong organizational, analytical, and prioritization skills.

•  Computer literate and working knowledge of software applications (word processing, spreadsheet and donor databases) Blackbaud CRM experience a plus

•  Demonstrate diplomacy, tact and a professional demeanor.

•  A working knowledge of fundraising concepts and tax related information.

•  Willingness to travel to meet with donors/prospects as need arises.

•  Proven track record in working within complex programs and managing multiple demands.

•  Proven ability to make decisions, work independently, and as a team player.
