Your Role:

BioProcessing is one of the fastest growing business units in Millipore Sigma, and will drive almost half of the future growth. BioProcessing business unit Controlling affiliates our global business partners with vital insights and recommendations in financial matters that affect the strategic and operational direction of this business unit.

He/she will drive a wide range of activities, from financial planning/forecasting/reporting, and commentary/analysis across a broad variety of topics - Sales, Margin, Spending, CapEx, Headcount, Strategic Development, Long Range Plan, Demand Planning, market segment, R&D PDP Financial Analysis, etc. In addition, this person will liaise strong collaboration between BioProcessing business unit, BioProcessing Commercial Regions, and Integrated Supply Chain Operation under a matrix organization. The ideal candidate is a strong team player & business partner, leveraging strong financial and business acumen in order to steer the business.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Provide financial decision support on a wide scope of financial topics, including but not limited to:
  • Responsible for financial reporting and planning, financial analysis, resource allocation and compliance for product marketing and strategy team
  • Pressure test monthly R&D project development plan financial analysis for Gate 2/4/commercial review, and annual financial analysis template update
  • Provides relevant data, financial analysis, and fact-based recommendations in a timely manner; ability to anticipate and comfortable working with fast pace deadlines
  • Demonstrates good financial judgment; ability to articulate recommendations to both business partners and leaders based on quantitative financial analysis
  • Proactively identifies and communicates areas for process improvement to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the controlling function in providing value-added support to business partners (i.e., more time spent on analysis, and less on process oriented operational tasks)
  • Streamline annual Strategic Development, Long Range Plan, commercial sales forecast and be able to articulate holistic BioProcessing storylines
  • Liaise closely with BioProcessing commercial and Integrated Supply Chain Operation controllers to steer investment decision
  • Build business cases for BioProcessing strategic initiatives for project approval and execution


  • Ability to effectively interpret financial data for non-finance partners to drive optimal business actions and decisions to achieve financial targets
  • Act courageously: Always serve in the best financial interests of the Merck Group and Life Science sector even if it means sometimes having to disagree with business partners
  • Monthly & quarterly reporting analysis of financial results, understanding of developments in business and forecasting risks and opportunities
  • Maintain regular interaction with CFO organization and/or Merck Business Services to ensure monthly closing is well executed (e.g., appropriate accruals are done)
  • Appropriately balances corporate and divisional perspectives in developing forecasts, and provides transparency into business drivers, risks and opportunities

Minimum Qualifications:
  • This role requires a Bachelor's degree (MBA preferred) and 10+ years of relevant experience
